When people ask me of my favorite season, I usually will not have an answer. When you’re living in Japan, you know that Japan is just very beautiful all year round and it’s just impossible to choose a favorite season. Each of the season just has its own beauty! However, one cannot simply deny the beauty of Autumn, especially when the Kouyou (紅葉) blossoms into different colors.
I lived in Nagoya, Aichi for 2 years and in those time I was able to run around Aichi chasing where the Kouyou blossoms. That is why this article is written. I want to share to you the beauty of Aichi during Autumn. May this article guide you if ever you decide to venture around Aichi for your Autumn getaway!
So let’s start!
1. Chikusa Park (千種公園)
Nagoya is a beautiful city, especially during Autumn and Spring. Chikusa Park is one of my favorite spots in the city, not only because of its beautiful scenery as the season changes but also because of how big this open space is. You can have a picnic here, bring your kids to enjoy the playground, or place soccer or baseball as you are towered over Kouyou during Autumn or Cherry Blossoms during Spring.

2. Korankei Valley
Korankei Valley is one of the top Autumn spots in Aichi. This location is visited by countless tourists every peak of the season. It is popular because in this location sprouts around 4,000 Maple trees and these trees blossom beautifully during Autumn.
A variety of events, such as tea parties, festival music, Japanese drumming and other performances, are held during this period, particularly on Saturdays and Sundays. Also, there are illuminations every day from sunset until 9:00 PM, so visitors can enjoy beautiful, fantastic scenery that is truly breathtaking.― Aichi Now

3. Obara (小原)
In Aichi, you don’t only search for Kouyou during Autumn. You also search for Cherry Blossoms because yes! Cherry Blossoms also bloom in Aichi during that season because Obara of Toyota has its very own Shikizakura― a type of Cherry Blossom that blossoms twice a year, during Autumn and Spring.
Obara has a lot of things to showcase. It has Shikizakura, Peaches, and Kouyou.
Aside from the pink blossoms of Shikizakura, the Kouyou of Obara does not pale from the beauty of the Cherry Blossoms. At the peak of Autumn, the Kouyou of Obara shines bright red.

Those three (3) locations are my favorite Autumn spots in Aichi. I tried my best to take great pictures as much as I can, but I know that these pictures will never give justice to how beautify these places are. I’ll leave that up to you to see for yourself. Enjoy your adventure and may this article be useful to you!
