Launching #DBusinessDiaries

After seriously immersing into the world of business for 3 months now, I realized that this is a path less travelled by. It definitely makes sense because all throughout our education from Kindergarten to College and beyond, the mindset has been to study and graduate to land a good job. That’s the normal path while business is definitely unconventional. That is why I can totally understand why it took me 6 years before I officially welcomed the thought of settling down and doing business. Even when I already started my business, my mind was still clouded with doubts; Is this really the right thing to do? Is there stability in business? What will my friends say? I’m already in a good place in terms of my career, am I really ready to give it all up and start fresh? A shiny career in employments looks better. Those were the thoughts that ran my mind. It definitely was not an easy shift in perspective. That is why, I am creating #DBusinessDiaries.

An Afternoon in Mystical Kamakura

One random day during the Japan Golden Week 2021, I decided to meet up with friends in Kamakura, Kanagawa. The sole purpose was just to meet up with them, to see other people once in a while after the long stay-at-home this pandemic. Little did I know, I would find more than I expected in my mystical land of Slam Dunk, Kamakura City.

PINGGANG PINOY: Intentionally Eating Healthy

Raise your hand if, just like me, you’re having a hard time eating healthy! *raises hand nervously*

It’s difficult to eat healthy. That’s the truth for majority of the people around the world, and I am one of those people. This dilemma has a lot of factors; we don’t have the time and resources to prepare healthy meals, we don’t know what are healthy meals or perhaps, we don’t target to eat healthy. That’s unfortunate, because in order for us to take care of our health, we shouldn’t just consume any food. We should make sure that we consume the right food and the right amount of it. Fortunately, that’s what we’re talking about in today’s #LifestyleThursday!

Taking My Health Very Seriously

I’ve always been such a hardworker. In college starting at 16, I slept at 6am daily to finish my acads and to manage my 30 active organizations. Countless times in my working life when I clocked in to work at 9am then clocked out at 3am due to heavy overtime work. Living alone, I started not eating healthy as well. Even when I do my passion projects or even when I stay up all night to watch my favorite CDrama, I’ve taken my health for granted. Now, I am slowly feeling the negative effects of a decade of an unhealthy lifestyle. I have physically and mentally degenerated.

27 and Using my Privilege to Pay It Forward

Annually, I usually wrap up my year recounting all the milestones I have achieved and all the dragons that I have conquered. However, I do not want to do that this year. Millions of people died, lost their jobs, and stopped their studies because of COVID-19. I even lost my guy bestfriend, Dave, from it. Many lost their lives, their homes, and their properties to the strong typhoons that stormed PH this year. Many are now drowning from poor mental health. Many are struggling to put food on their tables. And definitely, there are those who are living everyday to survive. I do not want to alienate myself from the struggles of others. If there is one thing that I want to contemplate on now is the fact that I have been greatly privileged and it’s sad that countless people do not have the same privileges that I have.

The Unli-ride Day in Itō

I didn’t intend to travel to Itō. Right after my day in Atami, my sole intention is to sleep the night in Itō then head off to Shimoda to surf. But when the universe conspires, there’s pretty much nothing you can do but to enjoy the ride!

Today is a story of my day trip around Itō, Shizuoka last September 2020, when the winds were still not as cold as today while I’m writing this. This is a narration of my stay in my favorite hotel by far and my scary walk in a forest just to find a place full of New York lamps. Excited with all of that? Read ahead!

The Ryokan (旅館) Experience in Itō

I didn’t really know that Ryokans still exist in Japan. To be able to stay in a 100-year-old Ryokan for a night and experience the cultural immersion it offers is such a privilege.

A Ryokan (旅館) is a traditional Japanese inn. Now that Japan is very much modernized, one cannot expect that Ryokans still exist. However, we are lucky that Japan treasures and preserves their cultural relics dearly that even centuries old inns still survive up to today. I am privileged enough to have met and stayed in to one last September 2020, and this is my experience. Read ahead!
